Having grown up on the North coast of Cornwall Nick developed a keen love for the ocean and grew up sailing and surfing in the Camel estuary and surrounding bays. Through his teenage years he worked on the beach at surf hires in Polzeath, saving pennies to travel with when he left college at 18.

After a year in Australia and New Zealand Nick worked as a labourer for a local builder and started to develop a liking for working with his hands. It was, however, during a trip to Indonesia where he had an epiphany… combining his love of the sea and this emerging love of practical work he decided to go back to college in Falmouth and learn traditional boat building. Here Nick studied for 2 years earning his NVQ 2 in Boat Building Production and Design.

Since finishing in 2008 Nick has transferred what he learnt about boat building in to all forms of woodworking, developing a real appreciation of the craft in all its forms.  There aren’t many straight lines on a boat so working with curves and flowing lines is something Nick likes to incorporate into his work.  He is keen to expand on this as his ideas in design and projects of the future intensify.

Over the last 10 years Nick has been building a successful business working all over North Cornwall (particularly Rock and Polzeath where he grew up) and beyond, travelling far afield to fit commissioned work. Focusing on his love of the craft and his attention to detail, Nick creates designs both he and his clients can be proud of.
