Polzeath carpentry

The fascia board…. in times long passed when the state of British architechture was a grand affair even the humble fascia board (the board that runs along the eaves and gables of slate roofs) would often be an elaborate display of patterned timbers. Highlighting  not only the skill of the labourer’s work but also the wealth of the clients themselves in adding such detail to every aspect of there new residencies.

Making a facia uses lots of intricate angles

Making the facias for a 1920s renovated house

Although not elaborate patterns,  the original fascia and soffits of ‘Eastnor’ are quite striking and unusally, are a distinct feature of the house you notice.
